BBC Audio Drama Awards 2018

In 2016 I was fortunate enough to be in the director’s chair when John Hurt played the role of Griffin in a new audio production of The Invisible Man, adapted by Jonathan Barnes for Big Finish Productions.

For his perfomance John was named as one of the finalists in the Best Actor category at the BBC Audio Drama Awards 2018. He didn’t win, but the judges made the following statement:

The judges wanted to make a special mention of John Hurt making one of his final audio drama appearances in The Invisible Man. Despite his fame and acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic, he remained faithful to radio, indeed received an Outstanding Contribution award in this very theatre a couple of years ago, and this is a tribute to his prolific and impressive career. Thank you, John.

We couldn’t be more thrilled that John’s skill and dedication to his craft was recognised by the judges. It was a privilege to work with him. One of the kindest and most generous people you could ever hope to meet.
